This blog is now powered by the latest version of the most popular blogging platform - Wordpress 2.5.
The latest version sports in myriad of features, some of which were really missing in the previous versions. The upgrading took me only 15 minutes and was an (ultra soft) piece of cake (thanks to wordpress codex). The whole system is refreshed and now breaths an air of life & enthusiasm.
If you are a blogger using the Wordpress platform, nothing should pull you back from upgrading to WP 2.5. It increases productivity and smooth flow of work. The new feature I loved the most is the “one-click-upgrade-of-installed-plugins”. Whenever the plugin manager find a new version to any of the installed plugins, you have the option to automatically update that plugin. For that, you just have to enter your server’s login details. (It’s wordpress, you can trust).
Things to note:
- Make sure that the theme you use, is compatible with Wordpress 2.5 You may contact the theme designer or alternatively test Wordpress 2.5 by virtualising it on your own computer. (I recommend WAMPServer).
- Create a backup of your wordpress database (to be on the safer side)
- Be sure to read the full upgrade instructions by wordpress team here.
