(Warning: This post might get you addicted to Plurk)

Plurk. You might’ve heard about it if you are an active tweeter. Recently, Plurk got a sudden boost as a result of Twitter’s ongoing “technical problems” and “database crashes”. A greater downtime and disabling of IM-integration, forced even the die-hard tweeters to give Plurk a try. And stats, shows that, people are getting addicted to Plurk (myself included).
Here are some Cool, Fresh Thoughts and Ideas about Plurk:
1. The Timeline Wall: A premium AD spot !!

Plurk features smooth-horizontal-scrolling with the “plurkings” by users, displayed in a timeline as could be seen in the image above. The wall of that timeline (coloured blue), is a great spot for ADs isn’t it. (:P) ?
But, I’m sure that we won’t see ADs there, anytime. They would rather close the site than doing that !!
2. Setup Plurk right there on your Desktop
(Full credits for this idea goes to my friend Shankar Ganesh, the author of KillerTechTips. He is the one who discovered this ultra-cool way of Plurking.)
Here’s a screenshot of what Shankar Ganesh did with his Plurk account.

It’s his desktop. He now plurks right from his desktop and watches the timeline progress as his wallapaper. Cool, huh ?!!
I appreciate him on discovering a cool and snazzy way around.
Here’s how you could do this (Windows):
Goto Control Panel > Display > Desktop(tab) > Customize Desktop > Web(tab) > New
Create a new item for “www.plurk.com” > OK
Now you will have Plurk, right there on your desktop.

That timeline wall is indeed a great spot for unobtrusive ads. Great idea!

Are you still using it as your wallpaper ?
And as you wished, we might soon see Desktop Clients named “Plurker” or “Plurky” etc.
Stopped because it’s a big distraction. Plus, it doesn’t function very well all the time, i need to hit F5 to refresh the wallpaper - sometimes.

Have you tried Plurkerati.com ?
Wow.
It’s seriously good app.
I’ve written a new post on it.
I can’t seem to get the desktop version to “log in” to my acct. I’m already logged in online (I use FF) but on my desktop it’s my timeline but I can’t plurk to it. Help!

I too found the same issue when i tried to login myself.
Which version of Internet Explorer are you using?
It worked for me with IE7.
But, when I tried now on IE6, it only shows the timeline and there’s no textfield to type in the text.
