This needs attention. Imageshack.us, the leader in image hosting, today added a great new feature to their ‘already-nice’ feature-set: “Online Torrenting”.
What Is It?
It’s a cutting-edge technology by which you can download the contents of a torrent file to imageshack.us’s clustered servers and download it to your computer through direct links.
That means, you literally need no torrent clients or p2p clients running in the background, hogging your resources. Just add the torrent file at imageshack and let them do the torrenting for you. And, once it’s finished you can download the files as direct links. Sounds great, isn’t it !!!
Specs
You get 15GB Storage Space & 15GB Bandwidth

How To?
- The service is still in the early BETA and requires you to register for an account at imageshack.us
- After Registering, LogIn and Go to Imageshack Torrents’ Home.
- You can either upload a .torrent file from your computer or else provide the URL to the .torrent file. Click GO
- That’s it. Now, Imageshack starts torrenting for you and you may shut the computer and have a good night’s sleep.
Nothing is downloaded to your computer, NOW. - When you check back, it might be finished or else you can see the status of the given torrent download.
- In the torrents’ homepage, you get to control torrenting, like, Start, Stop, Download, Delete etc. (screenshot below)
- Clicking on “Download” will take you to a file listing page. (screenshot below)
- If you are downloading a torrent with many sub-files, you can download the individual files in the order of finishing. That means, if your torrent contains 50 files and only 25 of them are finished at the time you check, you can download those 25 files individually while the torrenting proceeds in the background.
You might’ve used BitLet, which allow you to download the torrent files to your computer without a torrent client. But, Imageshack has gone one more step ahead, and downloads it to their servers to provide you with DIRECT LINKS.

Your article mentions .com, but that is not correct, it should be .us.
Sorry Alex for that mistake from my part.
I’ve duly changed all .com to .us.
My Apologies.
A great thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on it.
Thanks.
When I clicked on the link to Imageshack Torrent’s Home, it said “Unable to identify you. Please login first,” when I was CLEARLY signed in already (the top right of the page told me so).
I couldn’t even find Imageshack Torrent’s Home without the link you provided and now I’m wondering whether it exists anymore…. help!
@ Sebastian
That could be a temporary problem. Try again as it is working fine for me. just give it another try.
Yups. That’s true. ImageShack doesn’t have any links to this service in their homepage. That means, they have not releases it completely/officially. While i was going through their site, i noticed a simple line: “Download Torrents Now”. I clicked on that and found this.
I found it interesting, so i blogged. Now, it seems that many are interested. (Thanks to WP-Stats!!!)
Woo it works! Thanks for the share!

It’s okay.

See You Again.

These are some interesting comments i got from Xarious (http://xarious.stumbleupon.com/) and Gorbichov (http://gorbichov.stumbleupon.com/) >>
“”I’m willing to bet some corporation like Microsoft or Adobe put them up to this so they can track software pirates. That is, if this isn’t some kind of strange prank.”"
“”This sounds great, except there is now a middle man spying on what you’re downloading. They can release this information to whomever, whenever they please.”"
What do you think?
I’d agree. I dont think the MPAA and RIAA would be too happy and sit idle.
PS: Remove the screenie you d/l *ahem* music and put a screenie of you d/ling a Linux distro, just to be on the safe side.
Yups. Will change ‘em.
Thatz true.

But does it seed?
@ Oracle
I dont think it will do seeding. Thus, it’s against the concept of p2p/file sharing
Download TORRENTS as DIRECT LINKS thorugh IMAGESHACK.US…
This one seems very interesting.
ImageShack has started a new feature by which you can download torrents contents from direct HTTP links.
This service has not yet been announced, but, i saw this on ……
This is awesome…great news
would’ve read my first ever scoop which was on ImageShack launching a new Torrent Service. I blogged it on 30th March and till then a …
I like the ‘classic’ torrent.
This - at this moment - seems only a file hosting.
Anyway, this offered us some entertainment.
Many are of the opinion that, ImageShack will run into Copyright issues.
Can I get such an imageshack account with 15GB storage? Currently, imageshack has limited it down to 5GB for new signups. Somebody help me plz.
Oh.
At the time of launch, they offered 15 GB storage.
Sorry to know that they’ve limited it to 5GB for new signups.
I’m sorry/ There is no way by which you could get a 15GB account unless you pay.
They might’ve been forced to do that since the service got wide acceptance and users rushed in.
I would like to state that while searching extensively for imageshack torrent accounts with 15GB quota, I have learned that this service was reported on this blog first. This is for record correction purpose. Try Google cache for confirmation. –peace
now this is something awesome.
would be good if there were something like this for http an ftp downloads too(my F#$kin ISP blocks a lot of ports)
update
Disk Space 5.00GB
Bandwidth 10.00GB/mo
Thanks for the update
When I signed up, I had 15GB Diskspace & BW. Even mine has been downgraded now. And now “rpemium” services are available
http://img329.imageshack.us/my.php?image=istorgo9.png
Yes. You are right.
My account too is now downgraded.
They could’ve not done this since i’ve blogged it.
Thinks my university now will suffer because of me
by the way I have create a second account
but they didn’t give me any Disk Space and Bandwidth tried to create 3 other account using different email but still the same no disk no bandwidth
any suggestion
This might be because that all computers on your university shares the same IP and your university has a Static IP.
ImageShack provides only one account per IP.
Deleting and managing the cookies may solve the problem.
think u i will register through using your-freedom
and c what will happen
